Director of Market Intelligence and Product Strategy

Position Summary:

This role keeps a pulse on market trends, industry dynamics, and key competitors by developing and executing scalable programs that deliver timely, actionable insights and recommendations to key stakeholders. You will gather, analyze, position, and package information from internal and external sources to inform decisions across corporate strategy, marketing strategy and positioning, product planning, and sales. You will design strategic plans that capitalize on market opportunities, compliment market needs, and anticipate competitive threats.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, actionable, fact-based intelligence and insight that align with objectives, goals and business decisions
  • Develop and implement a proactive program of processes, information assets, deliverables, and SLAs to improve data gathering, analysis, and intelligence dissemination
  • Conduct market sizing/opportunity analysis to identify new growth markets and segments
  • Select vendors and manage projects outsourced to third-party suppliers of primary and secondary research
  • Establish “early warning” system for key audiences that identifies new market forces, new regulations, and/or competitive landscape changes
  • Monitor and analyze key market trends through regular engagement with industry analysts, customers, and other influential thought leaders
  • Monitor competitor activities including pricing, go-to-market strategies, and product direction
  • Develop mechanisms to deliver qualitative and quantitative information, including comparison grids, competitive profiles/snapshots and dashboards
  • Create programmatic competitive briefing materials to ensure all key constituents understand how to effectively position and win against key players in the market
  • Provide competitive intelligence rapid response capabilities to assist sales in active deals
  • Partner with sales teams to provide them with specific value propositions and offerings for the targeted customer segments that are consistent with the sales plans.
  • Provide data driven knowledge and guidance to promote price optimization that ensures customer loyalty


Education/Experience/Other Requirements

  • Experience in the Warranty, Service and/or Insurance industry
  • Understanding of line of business P&L drivers
  • Knowledge of Contact Center and Customer Service industry
  • Strong background in developing market and competitive analysis programs and an aptitude for analyzing competitors’ products, strategy, and messaging
  • Experience in managing a highly regulated product environment, particularly UDAAP, Dodd Frank, RESPA, or CFPB
  • Ability to take market insights and weave them into critical Business to Business to Consumer sales, marketing, and/or product deliverables (e.g. battlecards, launch plans, market analysis, requirements documents)
  • Highly articulate in both oral and written communications, with the interpretive/analytical skills to convert charts, graphs and research findings into a story appropriate for leadership level audiences
  • Strong command of Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
