CADD Technician / Project Coordinator

Summary:

Our client, a unique building company in the steel construction sector is seeking individuals to join their Engineering Design group. This group provides the designs and technical support for the various custom buildings delivered domestically and internationally. Primary work product includes engineering designs, concept drawings, structural approval drawings, assembly drawings and details, and manufacturing drawings and lists of materials. This team also collaborates on unique solutions to challenging problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain contact with key decision-makers within customer base
  • Develops and maintains product knowledge in order to provide Company‚Äôs available services, pricing structures for effective selling strategy
  • Works with Project Managers on PEMB and structural steel system projects
  • Prepares project appropriate 2D and 3D structural models for drawing purposes
  • Works with design engineers and provides sales support as needed
  • Serves in a review and checking capacity for other CADD Technicians
  • Verifies all drawings and graphics for compliance to the project design
  • Generates complete shop approval drawings, including plans, elevations, sections and details
  • Generates and updates Erection Plans with job specific details
  • Reviews vendor shop drawings for project compliance and accuracy
  • Works with the entire Engineering department to plan, coordinate and meet scheduling needs
  • High proficiency in working with complex 3D models, preferred

Qualifications:

  • Minimum associates degree in Computer Aided Drafting, Structural Detailing/Drafting or similar certification or country equivalent
  • Understanding of general structural steel principles, including connection types and clearances
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD (2012 minimum) and/or Tekla Structures is required
  • Capable of utilizing math (geometry and trigonometry) as needed
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written
  • Experience using MBS (metal building software), preferred
  • Experience with troubleshooting issues during the erection phase of a project, preferred
  • Command of other languages (Spanish a plus)
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural project drawings, preferred
  • Ability to identify and obtain required information to keep a project progressing, preferred
